The courses
Sea Skills Online provides self-paced online maritime courses for study. Learn the COLREGs includes a lesson player. Other courses currently publish a syllabus while their lesson players are prepared. Course descriptions and prices are on each course page.
Accounts and enrolment
You create an account, or log in, before you pay. The account is stored in your browser. You are responsible for the password you choose and for the device you use. The course is added when Stripe returns you to this site in that same browser, while you are logged in.
The price on the course page is the price charged, in pounds sterling, through Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe’s page and are not stored by Sea Skills Online. If you already own some of the courses in the all-courses bundle, the bundle price is still charged and you receive the courses you do not already have. This version does not offer an automatic refund. If a payment was taken in error, write to hello@seaskillsonline.com.
Certificates
A certificate of completion confirms that you finished a Sea Skills Online course. It is not a certificate of competency, an STCW certificate, or an award from the RYA or the MCA. Passing quizzes inside a course does not pass an external exam.
Course materials
Lessons, questions, illustrations and the site design are for your own study while you are enrolled. Do not copy them for republication or for training other people as a course. Official text of the collision regulations is published by the International Maritime Organization and remains subject to IMO copyright.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the site, attempt to break into another person’s account, or interfere with the service. We may suspend access that breaches these terms.
Liability
The courses are teaching materials. They are not a substitute for a proper lookout, the collision regulations themselves, an official chart, or a current forecast. Navigation decisions remain with the mariner. Nothing on the site excludes liability that the law does not allow to be excluded.
Law
These placeholder terms are written with England and Wales in mind. The governing law clause should be confirmed before launch. Questions: hello@seaskillsonline.com. See also the Privacy policy.
